Netflix has officially Canceled Chilling Adventures of Sabrina before of the supernatural horror’s season 4 premiere this fall, leaving fans perplexed. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa created the series, which is based on his Archie comic book series of the same name. Given one of the other Archieverse shows, Katy Keene, has also been cancelled. Aguirre-Sacasa isn’t having the best of success lately.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was planned to premiere on The CW as a sister series to Riverdale when it was first announced. The show shifted to Netflix before its 2018 premiere, but it was still situated in the same universe as Riverdale. It followed Sabrina Spellman (Shipka), a young half-witch, and the problems she experienced within her coven, as well as how this affected the mortal world.
While the popularity of Riverdale seemed to rub off on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, the show eventually gained its own footing, particularly when it comes to the supernatural components. Season 1 was well praised by critics and fans, but as the plot became more complicated, the numbers decreased slightly over time.
Part 4 announcement
While the fans of Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina were eagerly waiting for the announcement of Part 4, Netflix Finally announced that Part 4 will be coming this Fall, along with some stills! But also along with some bad news: The show will conclude with Part 4.
Even still, Netflix’s decision to discontinue the series barely two years after it began is surprising. With the last eight episodes of Sabrina’s journey due to air later this year, Aguirre-Sacasa will be able to wrap up any loose ends.
Part 4 will consist of the final 8 Episodes showcasing the events in Greendale after the The Eldritch Terrors descend upon the town.
Our favourite show will not be returning for part 5! Although no official reason was offered for the cancellation of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, the move is consistent with Netflix’s recent patterns. Netflix has a history of ending shows in the second or third season, or when a series reaches the 30-episode milestone. Following those milestones, contracts and bonuses have been known to get more expensive.
Following the cancellation, cast members and the showrunner expressed their feelings through Instagram. ShowRunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said:
” Working on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been an incredible honor from Day One. The cast, beginning with Kiernan as everyone’s favorite teen witch, has been an absolute joy. I am beyond thankful to the crew, writers, editors, assistants, and everyone for pouring so much love into this dark dream of a show.”
“I’m also grateful to our partners at Netflix, Warner Bros, Berlanti Television and Archie Comics for letting us tell the story we wanted to tell, the way we wanted to tell it.We can’t wait for everyone to see Part Four” he added.
Other cast members also added posts confirming the cancellation.
