Riverdale Season 6 Release Date and Exclusive Updates!

Riverdale’s fifth season ended on Wednesday, bringing the hit The CW show into territory that viewers may not have expected. The season saw the series stage something of a rebirth as it jumped forward seven years in time to give fans a glimpse of what its characters are like as adults. Though some things changed, a lot of them stayed the same, including the town’s penchant for mystery and madness.

Season 6 Air Date

While a new season of Riverdale generally takes many months to air, the Season 6 premiere is right around the corner. Just like The Flash, Riverdale will return to The CW in November with a special five-episode mini-event on November 16th 2021.

Exclusive Details

Season 6’s initial episodes “are firmly in the horror genre,” showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa teases, and the five-episode event “definitely has its own arc. We’re really, really excited about it.” In fact, it even has its own name: Rivervale.”

Things are a little bit darker, a little bit weirder, a little more twisted in Rivervale. “He also adds “Season 6 will amp up the romance factor, as well. Archie, Betty, Veronica, Reggie, Jughead and Tabitha… all of them are very deep into it with love interests.”

While the show usually airs every Wednesday at 8/7c, episodes of Season 6 have been shifted to Tuesdays! And will air Every Tuesday at 9/8c.

The creators have released a short promo clip that gives a glance into the fascinating events that will take place in the town of Rivervale, which has been renamed. With residents attempting to re-establish normalcy, it will be interesting to see how things develop in the aftermath of Cheryl Blossom’s possible curse.

While the majority of the series regulars are set to return for the show’s sixth season, it has been confirmed that Mark Consuelos (who played Hiram lodge) will be departing from Riverdale.

Season 6 Filming and Behind The Scenes

Riverdale season 6 started filming in late August 2021, as reported by Decider. Production got underway while season 5 was still airing on The CW, marking an unprecedented first. Filming is expected to last until at least June 2022.
