Shakira allegedly placed a witch-like doll on a balcony at her Barcelona, Spain, home, which happens to face her ex-mother-in-law’s residence sparking controversy on Saturday. The story surfaced only a few days after the singer debuted a brand-new song, which, according to Spanish media, is allegedly meant to make fun of her ex-husband.
Shakira makes it very obvious that she is referring to the 23-year-old who is reported to have started dating her ex-partner last year before they broke up, saying: ‘I’m worth two 22’s. You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo. You traded a Rolex for a Casio.’
Shakira’s latest song contains some scathing verses directed at Gerard and his alleged new flame Clara Chia Marti, but it also contains a few harsh words for her ex-mother-in-law.
She sings the line in the song: ‘You left my mother-in-law as my neighbour, with the press at the door and the debt in the Treasury’.
According to rumours, Montserrat Bernabéu, Gerard’s mother, has soured Shakira and her friendship after she warmly accepted her son’s new relationship.
Many people have referred to her as a “petty queen” on Twitter in response to reports about the song and the spooky-looking witch that has been installed on her balcony.
Shakira’s neighbours are not only subjected to the spooky decor. One of them claims that the singer has been promoting her most recent song, which criticises her ex, his new partner, and, yes, even her ex-mother-in-law.
Since the photographs were initially shared, fans of the tale on social media have been stirring the situation.
